Kyrgyz economy to grow at least 7-8 pct by yearend: minister

BISHKEK, Aug. 31 (Xinhua) — Kyrgyzstan’s economy will grow at least 7-8 percent by the end of this year, local media cited Economy Minister Daniyar Amangeldiev as saying on Friday.
The target indicators and forecast for the country’s socio-economic development have been revised, Amangeldiev said.
“In February, we approved the GDP growth target at 6.3 percent. However, given the current dynamics, we have revised the forecast upwards and now expect that economic growth by the end of 2024 will be at least 7-8 percent,” he said.
The minister noted that the country’s leadership has set the task of ensuring medium-term annual economic growth of at least 10 percent.
“A benchmark has been defined, within the framework of which a strategy is currently being prepared and developed that will allow GDP to reach at least 30 billion U.S. dollars by 2030, and 200 billion U.S. dollars by 2050,” the minister said.
Kyrgyzstan’s economic growth in January-July 2024 grew 8.7 percent from a year ago and amounted to about 8 billion dollars. ■
